John R. Carucci
Mr. John R. Carucci, of 41 Clinton Rd., Whiteaboro, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, May 22,1988, at St. Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 74.
He was born in Utica, on September 14, 1913, a son of the late Frank and Maria (Donvito) Carucci. A lifelong resident of the Utica area, John attended local schools. He was united in marriage with the former Gladys Pietryka. Mr. Carucci was a Military Police Interpreter with the U.S. Army during W.W. II, interpreting to Italian P.O.W.'s. At one time, he had been the owner and operator of the Yum Yum Bakery, located on the comer of Nichols and Blandina Sts. John was also in a partnership with his brothers, in the operation of American Anthracite Coal Co., and later was employed as general manager of the Servadio Construction Co. From 1960 until his retirement in 1969. he was Staff Supervisor for the Carucci Sanitation Co., which contracted with the City of Utica. Mr. Carucci was a member of the D.A.V. Stars & Stripes Chapter #82.
John will long be remembered by his family and friends for his generous and considerate ways. Surviving are his wife, Gladys; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Anthony Iovine. of Utica. Emma and Joseph Bambino, of Vernon, Vinny and Anthony Servadio of Whitesboro. Also surviving is a sisterinlaw, Mrs. Jennie Carucci, of Utica, his aunt Mrs. Dorothy Vasta. of Utica. and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Angelo Carucci.
The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 8:15, from The Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave., and 9:00, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9.
